web 2.0

Before taking this class I had no idea what web 2.0 meant. I had no idea was RSS stood for, nor did I really get social networking and the real purpose behind it.

Over the 13 classes I came to learn that web 2.0 is not just another word for the internet, RSS is something that all online magazine (and most, if not all, websites should have) and that social networking goes behind facebook and msn.

On the review and reflect hand out you mention that visiting a website is an “experience”. Web masters are the ones that can either make this experience frustrating or enjoyable. Living in a day where people want things yesterday having a navigable website is very important. There is nothing worse than searching a website to try to find a phone number, an address or a review you read two days ago and it taking 10 minutes. 10 minutes may not seem that long, but when the average user spends 2 to 3 seconds deciding if they want to say on that web page, 10 minutes can seem like a lifetime. Having a good experience on website keeps readers coming back and ultimately that is what an online magazine strives for, no?!
